Archery at the Phoenix Ranch Summer Camp allows kids to gain experience with all the necessary equipment. We use re-curve bows for beginner to intermediate archers. Following the guidelines of JOAD and the USA Archery At the archery rotation, every summer camper has the chance to become the next Legolas, Robin of Loxely (aka Robin Hood) or Katniss Everdeen. Our range is conducted under the supervision of our Archery Specialist Raven.
Archery is a safe activity that children as young as 7 years old can enjoy. Safety is our primary concern, so we enforce a set of strict rules to ensure everyone’s safety on the range. These rules meet the safety standards set by the National Archery Association. During the camp, archers will not only become proficient in shooting a bow, but will also receive instruction on other archery essentials such as parts of the bow identification, arrow maintenance, self-analysis of shooting, and range etiquette.
Additional activities will include arrow making, target making, and various fun shoots (balloon shoots, etc). Our program is a blend of target scoring with fun twists to popular games such as tic-tac-toe, battleship, connect four, word spelling challenges, twister and more.We will hold daily, weekly, and season challenges for high score for both campers and staff! We are looking to also create our first ever Phoenix Archers Club with off site shooting.
I love camp because everyday is a different adventure, and those adventures allow me to create the greatest memories with my favorite people.
The staff is wonderful!
I love camp because it’s the place where a paper towel roll becomes a pirate’s telescope, a blue sheet becomes a raging river, a mustaches makes you into a villain, and 48 days becomes a lifetime of memories
I loved camp as a camper because many times that was the only time you were able to see your friends that each went to a different school… you did the school year and then you looked forward to camp because you knew you would see your friends again
